A Wilde Affair

Miss Prism and Canon Chasuble in Concert

by Christopher Owen

Tonight Miss Prism and Canon Chasuble will be performing some rather lovely Victorian songs. The couple’s musical accomplishments may come as a surprise to to members of the public who know them only through Mr Wilde’s comedy of manners, The Importance of Being Earnest . Indeed Miss Prism promises new revelations (prior to the publication of her memoirs) about handbags, lost babies and the scurrilous accusations of Lady Bracknell!

Susan and Michael have delighted Hungerford audiences with their shows More Tea, Vicar?, Pass the Port and Wits’ End. Writer Christopher Owen is also a well-known performer and has toured his shows A Parson’s Tale and RightHo, Wodehouse! widely over the past decade.

Blood, Sweat & Tears: Skiing to the South Pole

Illustrated talk by Hannah McKeand

In an epic 53-day expedition Hannah trekked 730 miles from the coast of Antarctica to the geographic South Pole, crossing one of the world’s harshest terrains and battling physical and mental exhaustion, frostbite, injury, hunger, and some of the lowest temperatures on earth.

Marketing manager for The Watermill Theatre for 7 years, at the age of 31 Hannah finally committed herself to her primary passion – exploring. She has travelled extensively in the remote Libyan Desert regions of North Africa in search of prehistoric cave paintings, and to the virtually unknown Wakan Corridor in northeastern Afghanistan in search of the source of the River Oxus. Future plans include the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in 2005/06 and a solo-unsupported attempt at the South Pole in 2006/07.
