Join the larger than life and legendary hell-raiser Oliver Reed as he knocks back a few drinks and shares his extraordinary life story, from his early years to his film career, through boozy adventures with Keith Moon to disastrous chat show appearances. The Spirit of 45 (2013)The Spirit of 45 (2013) Director Ken Loach

A documentary on how the spirit of unity, which buoyed Britain during the war years, carried through to create a vision of a fairer, united society. “Generosity, mutual support and cooperation were the watchwords of the age,” says Ken Loach. “It is time to remember the determination of those who were intent on building a better world.” To that end he trawled local and national film archives for rarely seen footage of the newly nationalised industries and the infant National Health Service, melding it with interviews and sound recordings to create this unique picture of a period of huge social and political change.

In the second part Robert performs on six different instruments. Robert Foster studied classical guitar and composition and has worked with artists as diverse as Sir Simon Rattle, David Essex, Elaine Page and Sir Elton John. He has composed music for over 100 TV commercials and many scores for BBC, ITV and Channel 4, as well as contributing to films such as Lethal Weapon 4 and Bridget Jones, The Edge of Reason. Robert has also composed two staged musicals, Outremer and The Poet’s Song, a triple violin concerto, a choral symphony and much guitar music. Philip Brown has been making instruments in his Newbury workshop since 1984. For several years his time was entirely taken up with making lutes. He is now mostly involved with instruments of the violin family and the making of historic bows.
